la la land

Tonight Plants and Animals will launch their new CD La La Land at The Horseshoe and kick off their North American tour (Yay!). They go on at 10:40 so my attendance will be a game-time decision (a.k.a i'm lazy and i can't stay up that late on school nights).

You can taste test their new album here. A friend recently explained the newest addition to their discography as less Crosby Stills Nash and Young more rock n' roll. If you're a night owl I suggest you check them out tonight, they always put on a great show and if you're lame like me go buy the CD and support our Canadian artists!

can't get enough

As you know I'm a sucker for things that smell pretty so when I tested the Caldrea hand lotion at Teatro Verde I was sold.  I'm  hooked on the sea salt and neroli fragrance (very fresh!) a mix of lemon verbena, cardamom, sea salt and neroli (neroli? ya it's the blossom of the Tunisian bitter orange tree..who knew?). Anyway it smells amazing and I can't get enough of it.

I'm so into it in fact, that I did some snooping around online to learn more about Caldrea and I learned that they have an entire line of green cleaning supplies (they CAN actually smell good!). So here are the deets: all of Caldrea's liquid products are biodegradable, they don't contain ammonia, chlorine, phosphates or petroleum distillates, their packaging is fully recyclable and they don't test on animals.  I haven't gone so far as testing them out yet, but I'm converting. Now my entire house will smell like sea salt and neroli! Much better than vinegar and baking soda.

I will keep you posted on my spring cleaning.

something sweet

Sunday morning we decided to have breakfast out and wandered over to Hoof Cafe. Of course it was packed and there was a wait (45 minutes!) but we weren't in a rush so we put our names down. Breakfast quickly turned into lunch, but whatevs it was worth the wait.

I had the Brioche French Toast (to die for!) and a side of bacon and my hubs had Eggs Benny with shredded pork. We also had fresh squeezed grapefruit juice (deelish!) but I wish I liked Caesars because they looked amazing.

If you're having a lazy Sunday turn it into special brunch date. You won't be disappointed!

sweat it out

I love working out and being active, but tend to get bored with workouts easily. As we all do, right?

I recently found one that I'm in love with and that you can do from home...AMAZING. The work-out is The Ultimate at-home boot camp and I found it in my new favourite magazine Best Health. From warm up to cool down it only takes up about an hour of your time. I'd say it's the best at-home workout I've tried since hitting the deck everyday with Tony Horton and his P90X videos.

Give the boot camp a try and let me know how it goes.

holly golightly

I turned 30 a couple of weeks ago so we hosted a party at our place last night. The theme was Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was a very civilized gathering and everyone dressed to impress including yours truly. The look was easy!

For the hair I consulted Strawberry Koi Vintage and my makeup help came courtesy of Ask Me Makeup. I accessorized with a rhinestone hair clip, a pearl necklace and of course the signature sunglasses all from Claire's Boutique and I splurged on a classy black dress from Club Monaco.

Needless to say the look was gorge!

my weakness

It was so beautiful on the weekend I ventured up to Yorkville to visit one of my favourite stores Teatro Verde. I have a weakness for pretty smelling things including lotions and soaps. Fresh soaps are my fave, but a bit of an indulgence so I splurged! My favourites are Fig Apricot and Coriander Lavendar.

eye candy

Amy Butler Design offers free patterns on her site which I love. I've made loads of these lavender eye pillows. Great gift idea and super cheap to make if you're tight on cash! Aren't they cute?
