new york i love you

I'm off to NYC for a few days so I borrowed the Olympus SP-800UZ to capture my visit. I took this camera to Italy last summer and the photos were amazing (the future Annie Leibovitz right here!). It's compact, but acts like a full-size fancy camera and the zoom can't be beat (you can do some serious spying).

I hope to share my most awesome shots when I return.

See you in three days!

P.S. While I'm gone you can think of me when you hear this song by LCD Soundsytem (one of my faves!)

video killed the radio star

Since I'm heading to NYC on Thursday I thought that featuring a band from Brooklyn this fine Tuesday would be appropriate.

TV ON THE RADIO (according to Wikepedia they're an experimental rock band...whatever that means) has been around for a while , but only on my radar for the last few months (they're my new fave!) I'm most attached to their 2008 release Dear Science you can listen to DLZ, one of the songs from that album here.

Happy listening!

the temper trap

I am loving this song today. Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap.

It's totally one of those good summer day driving songs (windows down, warm summer breeze blowing around, you and the open road). LOVE!

Happy almost summer!

quiet time

[youtube=] Just listen don't watch!

I'm having a quiet Monday evening listening to Great Lake Swimmers (no I'm not depressed!) and trying out a new granola recipe.

If you're in the mood to chill I recommend you add this Juno nominated band to your playlist. It's been the perfect background music for experimenting in the kitchen with Joshna's Granola, a new recipe I found in The Stop's first cookbook Good Food For All: Seasonal Recipes from a Community Garden. It's a great cookbook with recipes for every season and all the proceeds go towards The Stop's community kitchens.

Mondays aren't that bad after all!

la la land

Tonight Plants and Animals will launch their new CD La La Land at The Horseshoe and kick off their North American tour (Yay!). They go on at 10:40 so my attendance will be a game-time decision (a.k.a i'm lazy and i can't stay up that late on school nights).

You can taste test their new album here. A friend recently explained the newest addition to their discography as less Crosby Stills Nash and Young more rock n' roll. If you're a night owl I suggest you check them out tonight, they always put on a great show and if you're lame like me go buy the CD and support our Canadian artists!
