the king of limbs

I downloaded Radiohead's The King of Limbs and I'm loving it so much we've been listening to Radiohead all weekend! Even l'il E is already a fan.

What do you think of the new album?

Do you remember this guy? His name is David Usher and he used to be in this band called Moist that had its heyday in 1996 (best year ever!).  Well, I saw him in my 'hood on Sunday afternoon and he looks better than ever! Since seeing him I've been nostalgic for all of that angst ridden mid '90s music that I pined over. Here are a few hits to spark your memory and bring out the joys of what Much Music used to be so good for.

1. Leave it Alone, Moist

2. Glycerine, Bush

3. Disarm, Smashing Pumpkins

4. Zombie, The Cranberries

5. Wonderwall, Oasis

6. Killing me Softly, The Fugees

7. No Rain, Blind Melon

8. Heart Shaped Box, Nirvana

9. Big Bang Baby, Stone Temple Pilots

10. Undone the Sweater Song, Weezer

I could go on, but I digress. Hope I've brought up some good memories for you on this blustery and cold night. Any others to add to the list?

Happy listening!

and repeat...

When I fall in love with a band I listen to their album over and over and over until I can't listen anymore (sorry hubs). The one I've got on repeat these days is The Black Keys latest album Brothers. At first I wasn't so sure but now I can't get enough.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but whatevah. Listen!

Arcade Fire - Rococo

I am loving this song (repeat please)! Earlier this summer we went to the island to see Arcade Fire (to my dismay I wasn't that familiar with their latest album) and everyone was freaking out to this song. Now I know why they were so into it!

It's catchy right?

kanye how dare you...

I just finished listening to Kanye's most recently leaked track Lost in the World and the intro is a total rip-off of Imogen Heap's (my fave) Hide and Seek! Have a listen.

I thought Kanye was the innovator?

I'm not  sold on his new album (release Nov. 22)  based on this one song, but you know I'll be downloading it as soon as it is available (sigh!).

the boss

Last night I was given TIFF tix to what I thought was the much-anticipated The Promise The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town, but what turned out to be a conversation with Bruce Springsteen himself and Edward Norton. Not sure I have to see the movie now after two hours of discussion, but I do have a newfound appreciation for the Boss. He's  done a lot of living (you can hear it in his voice) and he's smart, super hot (I know!) and really a true artist. He talked about his life as a musician, his inspiration and lessons learned, I feel like I really know a lot about him now.

We sat beside two guys from New Jersey who had been up all night waiting to get into this conversation, they have seen Springsteen in concert 250 and 300 times each and couldn't get enough of the live chat. I kind of felt bad sitting in my seat knowing that there was probably a mega fan left outside because the seats were full. The conversation was held in the new TIFF Bell Lightbox building (amaze!) it feels like the future inside. Nice work Toronto.

I'll leave you with one of my fave Springsteen songs (pure '80s!). Have a good day!

one of those days

Delicate by Damien Rice

Ever have those days? You know the ones where you wonder what on earth you're doing with your life?  It seems I always question things around this time of year (don't worry about me, I'll be over it by tomorrow). September is the start of my personal New Year and this one will be filled with lots of change (I hope!).

I'm off to wallow in my thoughts, but first this song.

When's your New Year?
