it's a PIMM'S kinda day

I'm posting this now in anticipation of yet another busy end to the work week. I'll definitely be needing one of these later!

Traditionally PIMM'S is served with lemonade, but I like to mix things up. Here is the recipe to my fave summer bevy (trust me you'll love it!)

  • Fill tall glass with a  little bit of ice
  • Add a generous shot of PIMM'S
  • Cut up whatever fruit you have in the fridge (I usually cut up lemons, limes, oranges, apples, strawberries, blueberries)
  • Fill glass with fruit slices
  • Top up with soda water and add a bit of Sprite/7Up (I don't like too much Sprite/7UP because I find it too sweet, but if you like sweetness add more  pop than soda water)
  • You can also add in a few sprigs of mint to taste

Yum! See you on the patio.

blackberry smash

It's a beautiful day and it's the long weekend (that means daytime drinking is allowed).

I tried this berry-licious cocktail (thank you with some friends last night and it's amazing with booze or without.

I didn't follow the recipe exactly so here's my version:

  • Fresh blackberries
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Gingerale
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Vodka (optional)

Directions (makes one serving):

  1. Muddle 10 blackberries and 10 mint leaves in a cocktail shaker
  2. Add lemon juice and half a can of Gingerale, stir
  3. Put ice and vodka (if using) in a rock glass
  4. Top off with blackberry/mint/Gingerale mixture

Bottoms up!

magic juice

It's been a long week y'all and I need a drink, but since it's so nice out I'm in the mood for something refreshing.

This recipe courtesy of Design Sponge is just what the doctor ordered! I gave it a taste test and these are my modifications.

Ingredients (makes four drinks):
6 hulled strawberries
1 peeled orange
5-7 mint leaves (didn't have any, so went without)
1/4 peeled cucumber (don't like cucumber water or anything cucumber flavoured so omitted)
4-6 oz gin, depending on taste (went with 6 oz. of vodka because that's all we had, but it would have been deelish with gin)
8 oz fresh lemonade (made my own lemonade with water, sugar and lemon juice (the stuff in a bottle))

I muddled the strawberries and orange sections together added the booze let it sit while I made the lemonade, poured the lemonade over ice then added the fruit infused vodka. HEAVEN in a glass. Yep.

Try it out and have a good weekend!
