nadege patisserie - a sweet gift

I've been MIA (a.k.a. sick and tired for the last 2 weeks) but during this time I've been harboring all kinds of amazing gift ideas. So here I am now spitting them out for you.

Next up is my all-time fave - Nadege Patisserie. When I was pregs with L'il E I used to eat a few croissants from this place a week! It was hard to resist the aromas as I walked passed on my way to work in the mornings. Sadly, since I discovered my wheat intolerance there is not much I can eat at Nadege, however that doesn't mean YOU can't indulge!

If you've never visited this little gem on Queen West, you must give it a try. Especially if you're going to be entertaining this holiday season. Their pastries are so beautiful you feel badly eating them. They also carry a wide array of gorgeous and colourful macarons as well as chocolate and confectioneries. Oh and you must try their homemade marshmallows!

They will be launching an online boutique soon, but it's still in the works.

Go check them out. I can smell the croissants now...

The Christmas shopping season is upon us! So to make your lives easier I'm going to offer up some holiday gift ideas every week until Christmas. Sound good?

This week I've got the ultimate gift for that person you just can't shop for - wantful.com. It's an online retail destination that only carries stuff that can't be found in mainstream retailers. Trust me, these well-designed premium products will impress even the pickiest person on your list.

So this is how wantful.com works. It's super easy and quick.

First you input who you're buying for and how much you want to spend ($30 to $500). Then you answer a few questions about their style and interests. With that info they spit out a variety (like 50-100) of recommended gift ideas. From those recommendations you select 12 gifts that are compiled into a beautifully printed book, wrapped in rice paper and sent to the person you're buying the gift for. Shopping has never been so easy and honestly it's all cool stuff!

When the person receives the book they choose one item from the 12 selected items, go to wantful.com and redeem their gift. The gift is then sent to them.

From jewellery, accessories, entertaining, to beauty, art and decor, and giving back I would be surprised if you can't find something for that special person on your list.

Above are a few things I'd like in my gift book and they're all in the $100 category! Pretty sweet.

Happy shopping!

it's beginning to feel a lot like christmas

This year I've decided I'm going to buy all of my Christmas gifts online and the ones I don't buy I will make of course. Since I've been trolling etsy and various blogs I'll be featuring my finds (looking for gift ideas?).  Today I've got a couple iphone cases hand-picked for that geeky someone on your list. You know the guy on your list who attends FanExpo? These are for him (or her).

girly gift guide

All of this snow has got me in the mood for Christmas! Here are some gift ideas for that favourite gal in your life.

You're welcome!

Tokyo Milk Bubbling Bath - smells AMAZE and the containers are are just as pretty as the fragrance.

Fresh Soaps - these soaps look so pretty she won't want to unwrap them, but once unwrapped she won't be able to get enough of the sweet scents.

Me and You Pillowcase Set - so adorable! How can you pass these up?!

Mukluk slipper socks - these will keep her toes warm and stylish!

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl - red lips are hot! Enough said.

Rib Henley One Piece - leave it to American Apparel to make long johns sexy!

I hope this gave you one idea. Happy shopping!

she's crafty

If you've got a crafty person on your gift list this holiday season, pop over to the workroom tonight between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and check out the Sheridan Textile Studio Sale. The students from the Textile program will be selling printed fabric yardage, fat quarters, aprons, t-shirts, napkins and other textile gifts (and who doesn't love a homemade gift?). All proceeds go to the graduating class exhibit at the end of the year.

If you can't make it out tonight the workroom will be having a fabric sale all weekend. Buy two metres or more and get 10% off or buy 4 metres or more and get 20% off (now that's a deal!).

Still not doing it for you? Then why not buy that crafty person a gift cert or class at the workroom. The winter schedule can be found here under classes.

You're welcome!

for her

I LOVE this TNA Military Shirt. If you've got a gal on your xmas shopping list that likes this look snap one up and put it under the tree.

This one has all of the qualities of the vintage military shirt but it fits! TNA treated it with a special wash so it has the feel of old, but looks like new.

$65 at Aritzia.

You're welcome!

for the minimalist

How slick is this?! I want one!

While this Vers Shellcase for iPhone isn't the most practical of cases it sure makes a statement! It's carved out of a single block of Bamboo, is reinforced with a steel case and comes with a soft scratch resistant lining. The only downside is that you can't access the volume button with the iPhone in the case so be sure to wear your earbuds with volume control.

Bonus points for Vers and this will impress the eco-friendly pals on your xmas list. They plant 100 trees for every tree used in the manufacturing of their products (yeah)!

These amazing cases are available at The Future of Frances Watson. Happy holiday shopping!

Please note: Every Friday from now until Christmas I will feature a gift for the people on your list. So stay tuned or send me ideas to feature.
