I spotted this gorgeous hair and lip combo on Joanna Goddard's blog and instantly decided this would be my look for the holiday party circuit this season. Since I've only got my face and hair to work with this season I thought this would class up the all black look I'll be sporting to hide my baby bump.

The instructions to this hair do can be found here and I am splurging on NARS' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in "Cruella" (yes just like Cruella Deville!)

Let the holiday parties begin!

blow out

I love being pampered (hair done, nails done, face done whatever...) especially when I'm down and out, so a few weeks ago I indulged in a blow-out (the ultimate pick-me-up!)  I went in looking like an ugly stepsister and walked out feeling like Cinderella. My hair smelled amazing, was so voluminous and the best part is you get to skip washing your hair for days (mine lasted 4 days!).

When you go in they have a booklet of looks you can choose from, everything from the severe straight do to the "hollywood" (which is what I got). They wash your hair really well, give you a scalp massage and then blow it dry. They also use this great conditioning product called Moroccanoil.

With holiday party season just starting up check out their locations and make an appointment. You'll thank me later.

lather, rinse, repeat

I was at The Your Good Health Store stocking up (I'm a big vitamin popper) and they recommended I try JASON Satin Shower Body Wash. It was on sale so I caved and bought the Tea Tree scented Satin Shower (salespeople love me!). It's been almost a year and I haven't turned back to my former brand. This stuff is organic, made with natural products and doubles as bubble bath! It's also great for sensitive dry skin. Most recently I learned that JASON also has a line of shampoos and conditioners so I decided to give them a try. I'm not usually one to go au naturel with hair care, but I was impressed. I've only tried the Natural Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner, the shampoo doesn't lather as nice as most, but if you can get over that make the switch. They're reasonably priced and you can find them at most health food stores and even Metro.

Happy showering!

holly golightly

I turned 30 a couple of weeks ago so we hosted a party at our place last night. The theme was Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was a very civilized gathering and everyone dressed to impress including yours truly. The look was easy!

For the hair I consulted Strawberry Koi Vintage and my makeup help came courtesy of Ask Me Makeup. I accessorized with a rhinestone hair clip, a pearl necklace and of course the signature sunglasses all from Claire's Boutique and I splurged on a classy black dress from Club Monaco.

Needless to say the look was gorge!
